Tequila Voodoo covers what's actually happening in Taipei after dark — the gigs, the records, the screenings, the rooms worth being in.

Taipei has one of Asia's deepest live music scenes and almost none of it is written about in English. The listings that exist are scraped databases with no judgement attached: four hundred events, no indication which three are worth leaving the house for. We're the other thing.

Who's behind it

Tequila Voodoo is published by the people who run Quest Taipei (live events), 72Switch (record store and cafe), and 100 Chapters (independent film and documentary).

That means we're not neutral, and we'd rather say so than pretend. When we cover one of our own rooms, we label it. When we recommend something, it's because we'd go — we're in these venues most nights anyway.

We think insider coverage beats fake objectivity. You can decide whether we've earned that.
